NEWS

> I’m a participant on the panel discussion for SF Artspan Open Studios on preparing for Fall 2019. August 20, 6:30-8pm.

> While attending Suzanne Lacy’s important retrospective show opening at SFMOMA and YBCA this month I noticed my name in the credits for the team that collaborated on “The Roof is on Fire”! See this profound exhibition soon - the subject matter could not be more timely! So many people participated - and Suzanne was great about giving credit as well.

“The Burma Series: Breaking Walls/Breaking Patterns shines a light on the plight of the Rohingya women of Burma, bringing attention to a group of people who are being systematically persecuted. People, perceptions, and this pattern of female persecution and punishment must change. How can each of us ensure women’s safety and freedom of speech and religion?” (Background photo: Bagan, Burma)

The Wall Series & Politics

In my on-going “Wall Series” I collage photos I shot of graffiti, peeling paint, and layers of posters from my 2018 trip to Spain.

This collage combines a figure drawing from a model with a wall in Girona, Spain. The wall image references the struggle for independence - Catalonia from Spain). ©2018 srkirshenbaum
